Legion Gear started in 2021, in Perth, with a simple idea. Build tool storage that actually works on site, at a price a tradie can justify.

I use industrial grade PVC, reinforced bases, and pocket layouts designed by someone who's actually used the gear. The result is a range of bags that stand up to the toughest worksites in the country.

Why I started it

I'm James. I spent 16 years as an electrician, the back half of it FIFO to sites across the Pilbara.

In 2018 my life did a 180. Site work and FIFO weren't going to work anymore. I needed to be able to pick my kids up, take them to school, get them to appointments. All the normal stuff you can't do from camp.

So I came off the roster and picked up local work around Perth while I worked out what was next. What I had was 16 years on the tools and a fair idea of what good gear looks like. I'd used bags from just about every brand going, and somewhere in there I thought this was something I could do.

I put together a few samples and got them out to mates on site. Once I knew I was on the right track, I stopped working as a sparky and took the plunge.

On price

The other thing that shaped this. I could never justify spending big money on a tool bag.

Plenty of gear out there is well made and priced like it. Plenty more is cheap and falls apart inside a year, which costs you more over time anyway. Neither one sat right with me when I was the one paying for it.

So the brief I set myself was quality at a price point that makes sense. Bags that last, without needing a good week on the tools to pay for them. That's still the brief. Plus the customer care and support to match.

How I build

Every product gets tested on the job, because that's the only test that counts.

I use industrial grade PVC that handles water, abrasion and UV instead of going brittle in the sun. The bases are reinforced for extra stability. Heavy duty hardware goes on the stress points, because that's where cheap gear goes first. And the layouts are built around real tools, with pockets sized for what you actually carry rather than whatever the factory template offered.

If it doesn't hold up, it doesn't make the range.

The range

What started with tool storage has grown a bit since.

Tool bags and storage are what I built the brand on. Cooler bags came next, because a warm lunch in 40 degree heat is its own kind of punishment. Then drinkware, insulated bottles and tumblers that survive being knocked off a scaffold.

Who I build for

Mining crews, commercial construction, and every trade in between. Sparkies, chippies, plumbers, fitters, mechanics. Anyone whose gear has to earn its place in the ute. Even your locall DIYer.
