Warranty Policy
Effective for products purchased on or after 1 September 2026. See "Which Version of This Policy Applies to My Bag" below if you purchased before this date.
1. Overview
Legion Gear builds tool bags, cool bags, and related gear for use on Australian mining, construction, and trade worksites. This policy sets out what is covered by our manufacturer's warranty, for how long, what is excluded, and how to make a claim.
This policy should be read together with our Fair Use Policy, which sets out the intended use of our products in more detail. Where the two documents overlap, this Warranty Policy governs the warranty period and claims process.
2. Warranty Periods
From 1 September 2026, Legion Gear provides the following warranty periods against defects in materials and workmanship, calculated from the original retail purchase date:
- Bag structure, fabric, panels, webbing, straps, buckles, hardware, and stitching: 24 months from purchase
- Zips, sliders, and zip coils: 12 months from purchase
Zips are a high-wear mechanical component under regular job-site conditions. The shorter warranty period reflects normal mechanical fatigue in this component, not a lower standard of manufacturing.
These are the warranty periods Legion Gear voluntarily provides. They apply in addition to, and do not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which are set out below and are not subject to these time limits.
3. Which Version of This Policy Applies to My Bag
Legion Gear updated its warranty terms effective 1 September 2026. Which terms apply to your product depends on your purchase date, evidenced by your proof of purchase:
- Purchased before 1 September 2026: covered by our previous warranty — a 3-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, across all components including zips.
- Purchased on or after 1 September 2026: covered by the current policy above — 24 months general, 12 months on zips.
If you purchased before 1 September 2026 and are unsure which terms apply, contact us with your proof of purchase and we will confirm.
4. What Is Covered
Warranty cover applies to genuine defects in materials or workmanship that exist independently of how the product has been used — for example:
- A stitched seam that opens with no sign of overloading, stress distortion, or damage to the surrounding panel
- A zip slider or coil that fails to run or mesh correctly, with no grit, corrosion, fabric damage, or forcing visible at the point of failure
- Hardware (buckles, clips, D-rings) that fractures or fails under normal, within-capacity loading
- Fabric or coating that delaminates, splits, or fails without external cause (cuts, burns, chemical exposure)
Assessment is based on physical inspection of the item and/or photographic evidence — see "How to Make a Claim" below. We assess what the product itself shows rather than relying on a description of how it was used or cared for.
5. What Is Not Covered
The following are not covered under this warranty, regardless of the product's age or remaining warranty term, because they are evidence of use-related wear, damage, or misuse rather than a manufacturing defect:
- Overloading beyond the product's stated weight capacity, including stress marks, distorted panel shape, or torn stitching consistent with overloading
- Holes, cuts, abrasion, or scuffing caused by tools, equipment, or other contents carried inside the bag
- Grit, dirt, or debris packed into a zip coil or slider at the point of failure
- Corrosion, rust staining, or pitting on zips or hardware
- Mould, mildew, or odour consistent with the product being stored wet or unclean
- Fabric distorted, torn, or a zip forced/misaligned consistent with being closed over an overloaded or overpacked bag
- Damage from exposure to corrosive chemicals, solvents, fuel, or high-temperature surfaces
- Cuts, punctures, burns, or intentional modification of the product
- Use of the product as a lifting sling, tie-down, towing strap, or restraint
- Normal aesthetic wear — fading, staining, scuffing, or colour change from UV or general use
- Damage arising after any repair or alteration carried out by the customer or a third party
Where a claim shows a combination of a component failure and one or more of the above indicators at or near the point of failure, the claim will be assessed as excluded under this section rather than as a covered defect.
6. How to Make a Claim
To lodge a warranty claim, email Info@legiongear.com.au with the following:
- Proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation) showing the purchase date
- Clear photos of the failure point, close up
- A wider photo showing the whole product
- For zip claims specifically: photos of the zip run either side of the failure point
Claims should be lodged as soon as reasonably possible after the defect becomes apparent, and in any event within the applicable warranty period above.
We aim to assess claims and respond within 5 business days of receiving all required information. If a claim is approved, Legion Gear will cover the cost of return shipping for the replacement or repaired item within Australia. If we request the original item be sent back for inspection, we will confirm at that time who bears the cost of that shipment based on the outcome of the assessment.
7. Remedies
Where a claim is approved under this warranty, Legion Gear will, at its discretion, repair the product, replace it with the same or an equivalent product, or refund the original purchase price.
This warranty is not an insurance policy and does not cover loss, theft, or damage in transit by a third-party carrier.
8. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The benefits provided to you under this warranty are in addition to, and do not limit or exclude, these consumer guarantees or any other rights and remedies available to you under law.
